Lynn Buchanan Scholarship Award

PURPOSE: 

It shall be the duty of the MSP-FWD Board to award a scholarship to provide financial assistance to an active paid member of MSP-FWD currently employed in the profession of medical staff, provider credentialing services or a Student of the Medical Staff Services Degree Program to be applied toward the State TSMSS or National NAMSS conferences.

PROCEDURE:

The TSMSS/NAMSS Scholarship Award provides financial assistance, in an amount not to exceed $500 FOR TSMSS and $1,000 FOR NAMSS to an active paid member of MSP-FWD currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider credentialing services OR currently enrolled in a program of study in medical staff services.     

  1. Scholarship awards are given annually as determined by the MSP Board at their last meeting of the calendar year.
  2. Board members are not eligible to apply.
  3. Applicants must submit a completed application (appended to this policy) which includes:
    • A personal statement of professional goals, objectives and a time-table
    • A current CV/resume
  4. All applicants will be measured by the following criteria:
    • Commitment toward medical services profession or provider credentialing profession
    • Enthusiasm for and support of the goals of MSP-FWD
    • Future benefits to MSP-FWD resulting from educational assistance to the applicant
  5. Applications are to be submitted to the MSP-FWD Board of Directors by last chapter meeting  of each year.  Measuring all completed applications and supporting documentation against the criteria listed above, the Board will determine the recipient(s) by the end of the calendar year and will notify applicants by the first chapter meeting of the following year.  Announcement of the award will be made to the membership and a letter will go to the member’s employer.
